N-SCALE WEEKEND Altoona, Pa. Sept. 16 - 17 2023
A dozen BANTRAK members traveled to Altoona to participate in the 2023 N-SCALE weekend.
The group is pictured (photo) behind Paul Diley's representation of Horseshoe Curve which attracted much attention from the crowd due to the location only a few miles away of the real item.
The weekend provided an opportunity to reestablish friendships with members of other clubs, and to view the N scale modeling efforts of the several clubs with layouts at the show. Club members were able to run a large variety of trains during the weekend, both the long and the short of it.

The club constructed a large 40' by 20' layout with modules contributed by 6 different members as well as using modules owned by the club.

The club was proud to host a run of the iconic Cotton Brute, a [fictional] U60CG locomotive built by NTRAK founder Jim FitzGerald at the dawn of modular model railroading, now restored to full operation and touring the country in celebration of the NRAIL 50th anniversary. This well-named locomotive is famous for pulling a train of 560 hopper cars by itself at the first N-Scale Convention in Houston, Texas in August 1983.
